A real time and frustration saver. I use a Canon DSLR in a rig for video work, with the OEM battery the camera needed to be removed from the rig once it was exhausted. This takes 3-5 minutes to disassemble, replace the battery and reassemble. Adding to the frustration is the fact that the OEM batteries only last for 30-40 minutes of Liveview (viewing via rear screen), I was changing them several times across a shooting day. Also a battery running out at a critical time during an interview or documentary sequence is embarrassing, especially with the client present.My Canon cameras run on 7.2v so I needed a converter as well as a dummy battery adapter; Lanparte LP-E8 Camera Power Coupler DC Dummy Battery Adapter for Canon 550D 600D ect. or Lanparte LP-E6 camera power coupler DC Dummy Battery Pack for 5D3 5D2 7D 60D. The converter I made myself as shown here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wC5GxyYeOMQ), the voltage regulator (search Google for DE-SWADJ, I used the 1A version, now replaced by a 3A model) in enclosed in a Hammond enclosure (MINIATURE PLASTIC ENCLOSURE, BLACK, IP54 1551GBK By HAMMOND). The rest was a bit of light soldering work.I can now power my camera all day, not literally but for a full days work using Liveview without being too concious about switching the camera off between takes but turning off between scenes. I have two of these batteries as I also have a field monitor as well as a powered slider that take 12v directly, though these aren't in frequent use so I usually have a spare. Swapping out the battery, that is attached to the side of the rig using 3M Heavy Duty Dual Lock tape (25mm Black 3M Dual Lock (SJ3540) x 1m Roll), takes a few seconds. However, with the battery lasting all day I haven't yet needed to do this. This battery, specifically the 4800mAh version, is small and light enough to work well for the use described above yet pack sufficient charge so as to offer a significant advantage.
